The CSI is a defined benchmark of animal-agriculture pressures and transition signals. It is not an exhaustive measure of sustainability.
The CSI covers a defined set of animal-agriculture pressures and transition signals across 19 sovereign G20 members. Coverage, source revisions, modelling assumptions and methodology choices affect its interpretation. The water-pressure member includes feed, animal drinking and farm service blue water, with a disclosed approximation for imported-feed origin. Reporting lenses do not become additional composition members. Missing accepted output remains unavailable, and historical evidence retains its original methodology and status. A third party's use of the benchmark does not establish that party's claims or outcomes.
Interpret the benchmark within its boundaries.
- Coverage
- The nine canonical calculations use the 19 sovereign G20 members. EU and African Union views are reporting lenses and do not compose into the index.
- Modelled water pressure
- The model includes feed, animal drinking and farm service blue water. Downstream processing, green water and grey water are excluded. Imported-feed origin uses a non-bilateral global-export-share approximation.
- Source uncertainty
- Observations can be delayed, revised, estimated or unavailable. Inspect the source and data-state labels rather than inferring completeness from a chart.
- Methodology choices
- The nine raw priority weights sum to 101. Weighting and baseline choices affect interpretation and remain explicit in the methodology.
- Historical compatibility
- Earlier eight-member records are historical evidence. They do not certify the active nine-member release.
- External uses
- A third party's use of the benchmark does not establish that party's claims, decisions or outcomes.
